Functions of Time: Delay Effects as a Compositional Technique

The lecture will start with a brief history of the pioneering use of tape delay systems by composers including Terry Riley, Steve Reich and Pauline Oliveros. Build this lo-fi sample mangler based on the raspberry pi pico. Pikocore is a tiny lo-fi music mangler that can stutter, retrigger, gate, and tunnel through samples. It is open-source, it is fun, and it is hackable.The creator of the pikocore, Zack Scholl, (also known as "infinite digits") will guide a workshop where everyone will build their own pikocore.This workshop will cover the basics of soldering and is beginner friendly. If you have never soldered before, this is a great place to start.

Demystifying System Møffenzeef Workshop Join Ross Fish, creator of System Moffenzeef for an in depth tutorial on the inner workings of the family of modules. This workshop will contain an overview of the basic functionality of each module, an introduction to the Moffenzeef sequencing ethos, and some patch suggestions to get you started. Members of the Synth Library are welcome to explore System Moffenzeef during library hours and can also check it out as part of our lending program. Students don’t need to have any of the modules.
