This audience-interactive event is an experiment in interdisciplinary improvisation. Functions of Time: Delay Effects as a Compositional Technique

The lecture will start with a brief history of the pioneering use of tape delay systems by composers including Terry Riley, Steve Reich and Pauline Oliveros. Afterwards Jon Nasrallah will demonstrate how he uses delay in his own compositions with his eurorack modular system using the 4MS Dual Looping Delay and the Make Noise Mimeophon.

Build a Pikocore Workshop
@ Portland Synth and Pedal Expo
Build this lo-fi sample mangler based on the raspberry pi pico. Pikocore is a tiny lo-fi music mangler that can stutter, retrigger, gate, and tunnel through samples. It is open-source, it is fun, and it is hackable.The creator of the pikocore, Zack Scholl, (also known as "infinite digits") will guide a workshop where everyone will build their own pikocore.This workshop will cover the basics of soldering and is beginner friendly. If you have never soldered before, this is a great place to start.
